Brazoria County CSCD Senior Clinical Counselor Opening Position

Brief Description:

The Brazoria County CSCD Senior Clinical Counselor must be a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Supervisor distinction (LPC-S). The Senior Clinical Counselor will provide assistance in the development of treatment policies, revisions, and standard operating procedures specific to the department treatment program. Other duties will consist of the following:

  • Assist in providing on-going training in the areas of consultation and staffing in order to build cooperative relationships with judicial and CSCD staff. 
  • Supervise Counselor Interns for LPC hours per the counseling unit’s guidelines. 
  • Assist in the audit of information in the designated client management system: documentation, progress notes, progress reports, and discharge and aftercare summaries in order to evaluate compliance with the Criminal Justice Assistance Division (CJAD) standards. 
  • Performs intake, screening and assessment of clients for substance use problems, psychosocial and environmental status of clients through screening instruments, personal interviews, observation and other methods to determine clinical and other education/treatment resources and services required. Administers various clinical and other screening tests. 
  • Conducts individual and group counseling and /or psycho-educational classes, regarding substance use disorder rehabilitation, cognitive skill development, and relapse prevention techniques. Identifies clients in at-risk situations and seeks treatment solutions and alternative environmental surroundings. 
  • Develops treatment, intervention, and/or service plans for clients.  Recommends and coordinates referral of clients to clinical resources or services and monitors client progress. Resolves obstacles to service delivery. 
  • Maintains primary responsibility for coordinating client services provided by clinical and social service professionals and community outreach service providers. 
  • Attend and successfully complete CJAD CSO (Community Supervision Officer) certification within the first year of employment. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Provide the supervision of counseling staff by planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling activities to ensure effective quality service delivery and to ensure that the supervision needs of adult probation clients are met. 
  • Job Requirements  Education equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university.  Four (4) years of work experience in substance use disorder counseling or assessment, preferred.  Licensed LPC-S in the State of Texas with desire to supervise LPC-I.  Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record, and pass an extensive background check.  Performs work inside a standard office environment, and may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift files, boxes, and other materials up to 25 lbs., unassisted. This is a full-time position, to be transitioned from 32 hours per week initially to forty hours per week within six months. Wages commensurate with experience, range from $28.00 to $32.00 per hour. Job Requirements: 
