BRAZOS COUNTY COMMUNITY SUPERVISION AND CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT JENNIFER GOERIG, DIRECTOR EMPLOYMENT NOTICE The Brazos County Community Supervision and Corrections Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Community Supervision Officer.
POSITION: Entry Level Community Supervision Officer
REQUIREMENTS: By law, a four-year college degree is required. Two years of prior probation experience or internship is desired, but not required. Applicant must pass a criminal history check and drug test.
SALARY: Negotiable, based upon experience.

The position posted is a community supervision officer position. All jobs in this Department require at a minimum: prolonged periods of sitting; movement from one part of the building to another; ability to communicate and understand verbal communication; ability to visually observe offenders; ability to read and communicate the written word; ability to make decisions quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, busy environment; availability for work; comprehension of basic bookkeeping principles; and, ability to operate basic office equipment. Employees must have adequate typing skills. All officers must be available to perform field visits as needed. These visits involve riding or driving in a vehicle to an offender’s home, place of employment, or other related site. These visits require face-to-face contact with the offender and other community members and may occur in a correctional facility setting. Officers in this jurisdiction do not carry firearms, but do conduct field visits with a partner, and carry cell phones, radios, and non-lethal intermediate weapons (OC spray, if certified) while conducting visits. All officers must pass the Certification exam administered by the State within one year of employment as directed by the Department and the State, and must possess a bachelor’s degree as specified by law and CJAD Standards. All staff members may be required to drive or ride to training workshops, to pick up mail, or for other work-related purposes; therefore, a driver’s license is required, as is access to a vehicle and required insurance. Record checks are conducted, and applicant references will be checked. Departmental employees have face-to-face contact with persons charged with and/or convicted of criminal offenses. Employees are expected to routinely demonstrate integrity and a positive work ethic. We subscribe to a Code of Ethics that must be followed, along with standardized policies and procedures, as well as directives from the Department Director, Deputy Director, and Supervisors. Officers will conduct intake, assessment, case management (to include the imposition of progressive sanctions and rewards), court, pre-sentence report preparation, other report and document preparation and field services. Officers supervise offenders and provide service to the courts. There is no smoking in the building; all smoking must be done outside of the building in the designated smoking areas. Staff work schedules are determined by departmental need. Office hours are Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM and 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM on the last Thursday of the month. Officers may be expected to conduct off-hour field visits, including occasional Saturday, early morning, and/or evening field visits.
